As part of the cooperation between Shoper and BNP Paribas Bank, a further step has been taken - the possibility for sellers to enable installment payments with BNP Paribas Bank has been launched.
Instalment shopping boom
Last year alone, the number of installment loans granted in Poland increased by 24.3% compared to 2023, and their value increased by more than14%, BIK data show. The fact that Poles are increasingly willing to buy on installments is also confirmed by data from Bank BNP Paribas and Shoper, which are expanding their current cooperation to include an installment payment service.
By far the most common way to buy on installments is when the value of the purchase is above PLN 10,000. The share of installment loans with just such a minimum value accounts for 35.3% of the market. In contrast, installment loans up to PLN 1,000 have a 10.6% share. And it is in these two value ranges that the highest growth rate has been recorded over the past year. BIK data shows that installment loans up to PLN 1,000 grew by 21.9% in 2024, and installment purchases above PLN 10,000 by nearly 28% against 2023.
Poles made installment purchases worth PLN 26.2 billion last year - 14.1% more than in 2023. And forecasts for 2025 indicate that we can expect another increase - by 5%, according to BIK. So definitely forms of installment shopping are trending.
Buy and have...budget under control
Credit cards or installment purchases are characterized by deferred payment over time, or gradual payment of the bill. Poles have grown fond of such solutions because they allow them to make purchases without overburdening the household budget.
- Staggered payments for purchases are a hit from the perspective of our budgets - especially if we need to make a purchase we hadn't previously considered. Spreading out a purchase in installments is simply a relatively low burden on the wallet, compared to a situation where we would have to pay the full bill at once. Often such solutions are no-cost - like 0% installments, so being able to take advantage of such an option is convenient and efficient. This is reflected precisely in the growing trend of interest in such forms of financing. On the back of this, we have taken the next step of cooperation with the Shoper platform," says Krzysztof Oździnski, director of the Consumer Finance Internet Sales Development Office at BNP Paribas Bank.
Shoper x Bank BNP Paribas expand cooperation with installments
The Axepta BNP Paribas payment gateway was launched last year. And already in the first quarter of 2025, a further step was taken in the cooperation between Shoper and Bank BNP Paribas - the possibility for sellers to enable installment payments with Bank BNP Paribas was launched.
The official BNP Paribas Raty plug-in expands our portfolio of integrations to include another recognized Operator - thanks to this, virtually any Shoper store that wants to facilitate installment shopping for its customers can select for them such credit services that meet their needs, financing expectations and, above all, choose a brand they trust," says Lukasz Piechowiak, Director of Financial and Logistics Services at Shoper.
- The first stores located on the Shoper platform have already launched installment shopping, which we support. The installment loan agreement can be concluded fully online - in the GOmobile application, which ensures a smooth purchase, from the perspective of buyers, the time of spreading the payment even in 60 installments is also very attractive. The entire process closes in a few seconds. Such a solution is a way to meet the trends and expectations of customers who care about not burdening their household budgets, convenience and efficient process of obtaining financing, " emphasizes Krzysztof Oździnski from BNP Paribas Bank.
