Shoper, a leader in the Polish market for online stores offered in the SaaS model, has published its preliminary estimated financial results for Q1 2022. The company's record-breaking metrics were driven primarily by the rapid development of its product offering.

Shoper's revenue amounted to PLN 26.3 million in Q1 2022, up 67% from the previous period last year. In the first three months of this year, sales on the Shoper platform (GMV) grew at a record pace, amounting to PLN 1.7 billion for own stores (Stores) and PLN 1.8 billion for omnichannel sales (Omnichannel), i.e. in own stores and connected shopping platforms. This represents growth of 38% and 39%, respectively, compared to Q1 2021. The company estimates that the growth rate of GMV in 1Q 2022 was reduced by about 3 pp due to the outbreak of the war in Ukraine and its negative impact on buyer and seller sentiment. Adjusted EBITDA in Q1 2021 amounted to PLN 8.1 million, 14% higher than in the same period last year.

"We have had another great quarter and are optimistic about the months ahead. We are again pleased with the high growth of the GMV index, which showed that despite the high volatility of the market environment and increasing cost pressures, it was small and medium-sized companies that drove the growth of Polish e-commerce. Shoper's revenues achieved in the first quarter of 2022 were nearly 70% higher than in the corresponding period of 2021 and had a growth rate similar to the pandemic years." - comments Marcin Kuśmierz, CEO of Shoper.

The Shoper platform gained dozens of new features and services in Q1 2022. Among the new features were Shoper Connect, a service to support online shoppers, and TikTok Ads, an advertising service on the popular social-media platform. Shoper also developed tools and integrations to support multi-channel sales. Among others, it has established cooperation with Shopee, a popular shopping platform operating in Poland since September 2021.

Shoper also announced investments in new data centers and a fiber-optic network implemented in cooperation with ATMAN. In 2022, the number of data centers used by Shoper will increase to four. The company has also begun using public cloud infrastructure provided by global technology companies.

"We are making investments that translate into a pace of business growth for Shoper platform users. Since the beginning of the year, we have hired dozens of e-commerce specialists to help our customers effectively conduct online sales. We are also investing in world-class cloud computing solutions so that our customers have access to the latest technologies to support the development of e-commerce," says Piotr Biczysko, Shoper's board member for finance.

The Shoper platform offers the most popular solution on the Polish market for running an online store in the SaaS model. It also enables the use of additional services such as online payments, online advertising and logistics. At the end of 2021, it was used by more than 30,000 small and medium-sized companies.
