"Online shopping is becoming more common every year, and the offer of online stores is better suited to the needs of Poles, who are more likely to choose online instead of stationary sales. According to our data collected on the platform Shoper, in December 2021, stores selling in the online channel recorded a significant increase in the number and value of transactions compared to the previous year," comments Artur Halik, Head of Sales at Shoper.
Between Dec. 1 and Dec. 24, 2021, Shoper online stores sawthe number of transactions increase by 40% and their value by 53% compared to a similar time in 2020.
In the week leading up to Christmas 2021 (13-19.12), thevalue of transactions at Shoper online storesincreased by 66% compared to the week leading up to Christmas 2020 (14-20.12), and the number of orders was 55% higher.
For the last seven days before Christmas Eve, the value of transactions was 71% higher than in a similar week in 2020, and the number of transactions was 62% higher than a year ago.
December 13 turned out to be the best in terms of sales - that's when the value of orders at online stores Shoper was the highest in December.
From December 1 to 24, the largest increases in order value relative to the same period in 2020 were recorded by the apparel (104%), home and garden (47%), auto-moto (47%), computer (46%), gifts and accessories (39%) industries.
Clothing also sold best the week before Christmas Eve. Compared to a similar week in 2020, stores in this category recorded a 129% increase in order value, followed by auto-moto (76%), home and garden (67%), computers (66%), and sports and travel (65%).
"We are ending 2021 again with more online shoppers. According to the latest Gemius survey, the percentage of Poles shopping online increased by 4 p.p. compared to the previous year. In 2022, we expect another increase - the Internet will even more often be the channel of first choice for Poles when searching for various products and services. Its greatest advantage is the unlimited availability of online stores and the increasing convenience and security of distance shopping," assesses Artur Halik of Shoper.
