Banks have withdrawn from moneyback programs, now e-shops are introducing them. Online shopping platform Shoper has launched the Shoper Bonus program, in which customers are reimbursed for a portion of the value of their purchases.

The moneyback service was popularized by banks. Originally, it was intended to promote non-cash transactions - for paying with a card in a store, at a service point or on the Internet, the customer received a refund of a part, usually 1-3 percent of the amount paid. For consumers, it was a good opportunity to shore up the household budget, while banks profited from intercharge fees. However, with the decline in these fees, after several years of outbidding each other, the banks reduced the moneyback offer or withdrew from it altogether.

Today, e-shops have seen their chance to take advantage of moneyback. This is the most attractive method of loyalty for the customer - it gives tangible benefits, and does not make receiving the bonus dependent on the next purchase, as is the case with discount programs and collecting loyalty points. The moneyback program has been made available to its stores by the Shoper platform.

Store customers using the Shoper Bonus app can get cash back on their transactions - usually in the amount of PLN 2 or PLN 3 for every PLN 100 spent. The amount is credited to the email account registered in the app. The money can be withdrawn from the app to a bank account or PayPal account after reaching min. 10 PLN. In addition, shoppers can receive bonuses, such as increased refunds after exceeding a certain value of purchases, and special offers for repeat purchases within a specified time.

- The transparent model of returning a portion of cash for purchases is a new quality in loyalty, breaking with the common practice of collecting points redeemable for predetermined rewards. Cash is indisputably the best form of reward. So attractive to shoppers that it translates into an increase in new and returning customers and higher shopping cart value. In addition, the application automates remarketing activities and expands the reach of the e-store's offer," emphasizes Michal SzelÄ…gowski, Board Member of Starbonus, creator of the Shoper Bonus application.

To date, more than 100 stores have joined the program. - Shoper Bonus is another tool made available to our stores to help them increase profits, grow their business and enhance their customers' shopping experience. We know very well that it is not enough to succeed in e-commerce to set up a store. Customers need to be sought after all the time, and we support sellers in this area as well. A bonus in the form of a partial refund increases a store's competitiveness, especially in such a hectic period for sellers as the pre-Christmas preparations," comments Jacek Zientkiewicz, brand manager of the Shoper platform.
